Erik Torenberg:

"Sound Money has very positive second order effects. The better the money is at holding its value, the more it incentivizes people to save money. While this is bad news for Keynesians (more on this in a future post), it enables people to dedicate resources for future production, which leads to more capital accumulation and an improvement of living standards."

TD'er RESPONSE OF THE DAY

Steven Roussey in response to Jarrod's thoughts on reputation in our August 27th issue

"Yes, identity and reputation are intertwined. But both are also contextual (to some limits). JD's comments drift towards the identity and reputation of projects, but I think it helps to start with people as we all have direct experience in that domain. How different are your
github, twitter, dating, and financial profiles? Are they in conflict, or do they not even overlap. Unless you are a public person, I think most of us tend to act different in a reddit discussion than we might on a dating app. It is not a break of authenticity, though that certainly happens.

There is a place for a person wanting to become an instagram star, and the number of followers might be a reputation metric required to make it. It is not going to help your credit though. Credit is a well understood form of reputation, reduced to a FICO score. It's easy to see how contextual each of these metrics are. Both are also quite reductionist, but they transfer some form of meaning quite efficiently that way.

People are multidimensional, so their reputation will be as well. But that is hard to convey...for people, for projects, for companies, for countries."
