RT @ericturnr: 500 projects, most of which didn’t raise money. Compare this to thousands of pink sheet stocks which not only raised money, but filed with the SEC and used that as a sense of legitimacy while they basically stole money.
Crypto scammers are amateurs. https://t.co/VnIA6vYcw3
This article simultaneously slanders BTC by association, and greatly understates the fraud.
Like linking all of mining to gold prospecting scams while giving the impression that 80% of them are legit, and the main problems with the rest are things like websites being down. https://t.co/BgRb2mW2iR
RT @mikejcasey: Coming from Jill, who has seen as many white papers as anyone, this is telling. But it doesn't avoid the fact that @WSJ readers are going to assume this reflects the industry as a whole. Unfortunately, the crypto community has its work cut out in shifting public perception https://t.co/rOVSerNAG5

RT @fintechfrank: “The Journal reviewed nearly 3,300 crypto offerings and found about 16% of them, or 513, showed signs of plagiarism, identity theft and promises of improbable returns.”
Look at how Apple started. Lol and wtf is a wsj and why should I care? Anyone can pay a Fillipino $3 to write an article. Point is wsj is own by Rubert Murdoch, also the owner of Fox. Now why would they shit on crypto and a Chinese driven crypto? Hmmm
The only "bad" things people can use to criticize Tron is:
1. The whitepaper.
2. Justin overhyping his announcements.
What's shocking though, is I have never heard anything technically bad about Tron. It's really strange cause the crypto community constantly brings up how crypto is all speculation and nothing is working yet. Well, here we are, Tron is working GREAT! To me these are all the right signals to buy trx now! Once majority of people start realizing how to use Tron, REAL adoption will set in. Not people throwing money at it, trying to get rich and dump on the next guy.
Agreed. Tron has been on time with everything they’ve said they were going to put out. I just got familiar with the SR reward voting system. It’s kind of weird, but at least I’m getting a little something while I’m holding my investment. The roadmap is supposed to be about eight years, but at the rate they are going, they might actually reach their goals earlier.
Tron clearly made an early mistake with its white paper debacle, which they claimed was due to a misunderstanding around translation, but unfortunately the criticism of plagiarism stuck. A lot has changed since then. Due to hard work Tron has managed to shake off its image as a shitcoin to a large extent. This mention is unfortunate and a kick in the teeth for all the good progress the team has made in 2018.
Yeah, they flagged it because the original English white paper "duplicated language from a previous paper". However, most of us in the crypto community that are familiar with Tron... know that the short-lived English version of the white paper was simply garbage that lifted blocks of text from projects like filecoin.
Fortunately, the white paper really has nothing to do with the project and I am not investing in "white papers". Hell, filecoin had a nice white paper and where is it after 4 long years?
People just need to realize that the white paper was only a "this is the kinda thing we'd like to do" message for early investors and measure the project as it stands now and for how it has progressed over the last 16 months.
There is no other coin that has made the same progress in such a short time. And while many find Justin Sun's endless PR hype obnoxious, his relentless pushing and promoting of TRX is why the project has been so successful. Every day he's hustlin'.
They simply deleted the white paper from the Tron Foundation website many months ago. A white paper is simply a proposal and, as Justin Sun has said, Tron is well beyond the proposal stage by now. It's a reality. Review the project roadmap on their site if you want to know future directions.
EDIT: Oh, I guess they did get around to making a new English white paper that is much better... released earlier this month. The one with the filecoin copy pasta is long gone, but these WSJ journalists probably just read earlier published criticisms of that original version rather than checking out the latest version. https://tron.network/static/doc/white_paper_v_2_0.pdf
It was flagged for the following duplicate sentences in their white paper:
“IPFS: Maximize the node and the overall transaction performance.”
“IPFS: Prevent greedy nodes from taking advantage of or reducing the swapping performance.”
Also notable that TRON was not flagged for any other indicators, including:
-Regulators scrutinized the project
-Misrepresented, or fake, team
-No team disclosed online or in paper
-Suggests a “can’t miss” opportunity
I’m not worried, since they have a functioning product that is cheaper and faster than ETH. And it’s a blockchain that people are using more than ETH’s. And with BitTorrent’s launch of Project Atlas in Q1 2019, that’s another 100 million users using TRON’s ecosystem. Either Justin and his team of nearly 1,000 employees across two continents have constructed the most elaborate hoax in all of cryptocurrency, or it’s a legit business. I’m betting on the latter.
