RT @girlsreallyrule: BREAKING: House Oversight has been investigating US military expenditures around the Trump Turnberry property and the possibility that they have been used to keep Trump’s resort afloat.
The property lost $4.5 MM in 2017, but revenue went up $3 MM in 2018. https://t.co/muG7PMda4M
RT @NatashaBertrand: BREAKING: House Oversight is investigating whether US military expenditures have been propping up Trump Turnberry. A peculiar refueling stop in Glasgow by a US Air Force crew, who stayed overnight at the resort—there & back—tipped them off. Our exclusive: https://t.co/oRkatAAnFs
Matters are being reviewed to ensure no DoDI's, AFIs or joint ethical standards were not broken.
I do caution folks to not read a headline or basic details and fill in the blanks as someone that doesn't have faith in the system. There are a lot more details that surround this and there are numerous checks and balances in play.
With the recent news in regards to Pence Ireland trip, this story does not surprise me at all (along with all the countless stories around government officials traveling/Trump hotels)
It will be interesting to see what comes out of this, DOD doesnt take this lightly especially when its been called out in the public. Ill be curious to see what higher up made this happen and why as it sounds way out of the norm for this type of travel.
Our system just isn't set up for a grifter like trump and he knows it. Us justice is slow and methodical he'll eventually get caught up in all the bull shit but will be fined a small % of the profit he's made off being president.
We must make sure laws are written and enforced so this can't ever happen again, its honestly the best we can do at this point. The system hes crushing is basically an honor system that he just doesn't care about, he'll get away with most of the money. We all know it won't last much longer after he's out of office, we just have to also make sure he does not get elected again.
SS: An Air National Guard crew was ordered to stop over in Trump’s Scottish resort, where their per diems were too low to buy meals. Millions of dollars were spent at a nearby airport that is on the verge of closure, and that Trump’s resort depends on to stay alive. It’s a blatant siphoning of taxpayer dollars directly into the pockets of the President of the United States. A nakedly obvious conspiracy happening right in front of us. We’re living in a new Conspiracy Era, where the government’s dirty deeds are exposed almost daily, but anyone who votes Republican just turns a blind eye.
No no, remember when Politico reported on the Government Accountability Office's report detailing how Obama looted tens of millions from bank fines to give to his cronies at various Democrat non-profits? Oh wait, no, Politico never reported on that, my mistake.
But Trump let some AF officers sleep at his hotel, that's important to Politico.
> But Trump let some AF officers sleep at his hotel
Trump *ordered* some AF officers to sleep at his *failing* hotel so that the Air Force would have to gas up at the local airport, at great cost to taxpayers, to help keep his hotel afloat.
Dude the international media has done everything they can to hurt Trump's businesses at this point so I don't care if he makes some money off of being president.
I promise you the soldiers staying at Trump resorts like it a lot better than the motel 6.
Yes, when the head of the government personally steals money from the citizenry, that is called a “kleptocracy”. And that’s what’s happening. Am I surprised that Republicans are okay with this? No, no I am not.
Americans are very aware of this. Only half of them literally don’t care and will parrot back any lies they’re told because it makes them feel bigger and safer to be an asshole and have something to gleefully crow about. The doublethink is strong.
Way less than half. What I would like to see is what the republican membership was before Trump was elected, vs what it is today. The only explanation I can think of for his numbers growing among registered republicans is because those with a brain jumped ship.
The issue is more that they think Democrats are just as guilty, but better at hiding it. They dont need evidence to believe the conspiracy. Look at the Seth Rich conspiracy, within 1 hr it was Clinton did it and he was going to expose her, no evidence on anything, just whatever 4 chan wrote. They suck up fake news like dollar store Doritos then assume the rest of us does as well. This is because, if they dont assume that, that would mean they are the gullible ones and the disgusting humans, and their entire outlook on life has been a lie.
It doesn't help that so many hardcore republican cultists have been under republican politicians for so long that they literally cant comprehend of anything better, so they might as well go with the white guy instead of a woman or minority.
>Pathetic that republicans love the corruption so much.
I didnt think it took much explaining...it isnt that republicans love corruption, its that they think democrats do it as well, so it is just an eye for an eye. Hence conspiracy theories. Then as an example of how easily swayed they are with no evidence I used Seth Rich.
Was it really that hard to follow?
I didn’t have high expectations for Trump as a leader when he won: he’s never run a large organization; he’s never worked for anyone besides himself or his own father; he’s never negotiated anything when he wasn’t in a power position. But holy bankruptcies Batman! The blatant corruption, grabbing military funds for the wall, Twitter, Sharpiegate, and all of the rest. He’s worse that I could have ever have imagined and every day he’s worse than the day before
Yep, Trump Org is basically a small, Mom & Pop operation. The Trumpers don't know this. They think Trump is a self made BILLIONAIRE... They have been duped BIGLY.
I think Trump would have great difficulty running a single, fast food outlet. He is a terrible manager.
Politico reported he is losing money and many other news outlets have done so also. In the case of his golf resorts was is apparent is the plan numbers of people using them which is low.
Frankly I don't care whether Trump's properties are making money for him, what I do care about is whether tax payer money is going into and propping them up. There seems to be lots of that going around.
