RT @ToddCFRA: Under Clayton’s leadership the SEC has significantly impacted the asset management world, with the first #ETF rule, Creation of Reg BI, the use of derivatives and the ongoing rejection of a #bitcoin ETF. Will be interesting to see what’s next. https://t.co/aJbkOJcarm
Did you watch the press conference from the Ukrainian state prosecutors working on Burisma case? It came out about the same time Berman was let go. The Ukrainians said they were ignored by Berman when they requested help with the case, many times. Nabu-leaks for the press conference.
Audrey Strauss (the acting AG) all but confirmed this during the press conference. It’s clear that this grand jury investigation has been going on for months (if not years). Getting out the indictment and the arrest the day before Barr’s replacement could interfere was bold.
Berman's SDNY team sits on Maxwell for a year as she travels the world going into "hiding", this is after Epstein "dies" in MCC (a jail that holds those going to trial in SDNY).
Berman is removed from office, but days before his replacement can be installed by Barr they decide to move on Maxwell and charge her with crimes only during period 1994-1997 and lying 2016 and only involving her and Epstein.
They nab her and assign a familiar player to the prosecution team - Maureen Comey (daughter of James Comey) to keep door closed and locked on Elite’s involvement and Epstein’s blackmail files.
Berman and Co. certainly win the short-term optics game here by finally moving on Maxwell before Barr can install his man and take credit for it.
Wonder who wins the long game when Barr’s person is in place and opens door on Elite’s involvement?
Actually that whole statement is a lie. Barr fired Berman who was gonna arrest ghislaine. Berman had one condition and that was to appoint his suggestion in charge. This person arrested ghislaine 8 business days later. Barr was gonna appoint a man with Epstein connection
Ha! Trump & Barr have yet to formally nominate their replacement for Berman: https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/nominations/executive
Berman & Co. fall for Clayton gambit - Goodbye Berman and soon goodbye Strauss. Hello Law and Order nomination to be announced.
Jay Clayton? - https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/attorney-general-william-p-barr-nomination-jay-clayton-serve-us-attorney-southern-district
Audrey Strauss? -https://www.law.com/newyorklawjournal/2020/06/22/audrey-strauss-takes-over-as-manhattan-us-attorney-following-bermans-dramatic-ouster/?slreturn=20200602183057
Yet To be announced as the Trump/Barr nominee?
“If Barr’s ultimate goal was to gain control of the office and gain control of the investigations, he hasn’t done that yet,” said Jaimie Nawaday, a former Southern District prosecutor and partner with Kelley Drye & Warren.
“There is certainly a concession to SDNY between Friday and Saturday,” Nawaday said. “I think Berman should feel good about what he achieved. But again, it’s for now. I don’t have a lot of confidence that this is where the story ends for Barr.”
On my recommendation, the President has appointed Craig Carpenito, currently the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, to serve as the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, while the Senate is considering Jay Clayton’s nomination. This appointment will be effective July 3, and Craig will work closely with the outgoing United States Attorney to ensure a smooth transition. I thank Craig for his continued service and for taking on this important interim responsibility.
Literally the day before Barr was able to bring in a new acting AG for the SDNY the current acting AG (who previously worked under Geoffrey Berman) was able to arrest Ghislaine Maxwell.
The timing of Berman's firing and the timing of this indictment could not be more obvious.

The SEC employs 4300 people. I doubt whether the firing of its chairman will make much of a difference. Unless the new chair man is an outspoken advocate of crypto. And i doubt such a person will be nominated.
Winning the court case is the best play going forward. No matter who the chairman of the SEC is.
Typically, all U.S. Attorneys are asked to resign at the start of a new administration. So, confirming someone new five months before an election is ultra-weird.
So, if Biden wins, he could easily get rid of Clayton. But this whole situation makes me think they're going to be doing a lot of dirty work before the election and certainly before thee inauguration if Biden wins.
Berman was Trump's appointee, but he recused himself from a Michael Cohen case against Trump's wishes. So, he's probably not considered sufficiently loyal.
This is such BS. The level of corruption in the Trump administration is way beyond what I could have ever imagined. Why on earth is their a valid reason to replace the AUSA in the SDNY 5 months before the general election?
The only certainty I know is that everything the GOP does is 100% in bad faith in with an eye towards annihilating whatever is left of America.
So maybe they are preparing for in case Trump loses. Or maybe they are just preparing to make everybody think they are trying to prepare for if Trump loses. When none of them have any intention of letting that happen no matter what they have to do on Election Day.
