"The digital cash uses cryptography, a form of secret coding originating from the Second World War, to process transactions securely – and is untraceable."
Yikes, media bro's still think #bitcoin is 'untraceable.'
I have some sad news for them.
It’s not a surprise. This is a different launch than the FB coin - and possibly will be worldwide. This beta you mention would have capabilities (sending crypto via simple messages in the top messaging app) that exceed the beta that KIN has been in for over a year.
Interesting. u/bryanlahartinger just asked on gsrmod’s thread if the trust wallet integration means binance is involved and u/ted_on_reddit recently responded to a Hi Ted comment from university of Waterloo, but neither will respond to a legit question here about KIK, KIN and a serious (the biggest) competitor potentially integrating simple crypto transfers in a messaging app before KIK.
I think we both see it /u/joavg , I was actively trying to followup on what this company is about to form a real opinion to respond. This doesn't appear to be any official integration into those messengers. I think Wuabit is a stand alone company trying to make a mark in the crypto space by wading into high volume consumer apps, but they don't appear to have any brand behind them making this push. I'm interested to see what they do and are able to achieve from a competitive standpoint, but I do think that being able to have native integration with a messenger is going to be able to provide many additional experiences beyond sending money to your whatsapp contacts p2p.
Thanks again for your response. I will also add - Kin Foundation/KIK has already successfully shown the ability to perform MAJOR pivots from original conception - so I would certainly not underestimate nor take at face value any integration FB leaks in advance of future iterations. u/ted_on_reddit u/benji5656
I think it's been widely discussed that we're all in on Kin right now and that we see that as the future of exchange on the Kik platform. To answer your question directly, yes we will have p2p within Kik. There are some experiments on how we could do that in the wild today with admins of groups and other experiments launching this week with any user on kik within Kik. We want to find the best and safeat p2p experience first for our users before rolling something out to all Kik users.
Kin is integrated into many other apps from the first dev program and the KF has a mission to grow this over time to further the Kin ecosystem and adoption into other consumer experiences.
“We are near completing the wallet core service starting with BTC. By using WhatsApp/SMS/Telegram you can access that wallet easily. Crypto payments via WhatsApp can introduce greater numbers of new users who only know how to chat to this complicated space."
Yep, this title is major clickbait trash. This is not an indicator of Bitcoin "going mainstream". This is just a random person/company creating chat bots across various chat services to work with Bitcoin.
