CFTC @CFTC slaps @BitMEX for illegally operating a crypto exchange. This is a strong statement by U.S. government that cryptos are a financial derivative and that crypto trading will be regulated. https://t.co/gI02CSoZu8
Yeah, cause Arthur was born in Buffalo, not because he lives there. And yes, he is an american citizen, but not resident.

Makes sense. The US govt has no boundaries when it comes to this sort of thing, so if he didn’t renounce his citizenship, they are coming for him. It sucks. I’m not defending the govt. They are stopping voluntary free market participants who just want to trade with each other. It’s very stupid that the govt has such overreach. All I’m saying is that Authur should have known these risks and took necessary precautions.
We know it secretly won't be shut down. BitMEX is a part of the Cryptocurrency cartel that I'm 99.999% sure is involved in price manipulation and is a part of the establishment. For the crypto markets to not be held back, it would need to include the complete destruction of the crypto cartel.
They’re a member of the Liquid Federation with direct integration between Liquid and the exchange being available to certain traders. That might be of concern to me if I was Blockstream or another member of the Liquid Federation.
" The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today announced the filing of a civil enforcement action in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York charging five entities and three individuals that own and operate the BitMEX trading platform with operating an unregistered trading platform and violating multiple CFTC regulations, including failing to implement required anti-money laundering procedures. This case is brought in connection with the Division of Enforcement’s Digital Asset and Bank Secrecy Act Task Forces."
My heart weeps for Bitmex.
Oh wait, no it doesn't.
