Fun fact... a couple years ago I co-founded BotList with Seth and Mubs :)

Now Seth has launched this awesome (and sorely needed!) Telegram bot to help manage crypto communities.

How and why did you launch this?

Seth Louey
@bentossell, since starting and managing BotList for a few years, we've been paying close attention to how communities communicate. While most marketing people have been solely focused on Facebook's Messenger for automation (bots), crypto communities have flocked to using Telegram and Discord for creating international chatrooms.

The one issue that has plagued crypto communities is scammers, spammers, and phishing attacks. It makes trusting a community extremely difficult and running / modding a community discussion even more difficult. So we created CryptoMod to automate quality control for any crypto Telegram community.

Now blockchain companies can focus more on creating their products and less on managing their communities.

This is a fascinating project. What is your perspective on what type of communication makes sense for automation and what requires human touch?
3
Seth Louey
@nlw fantastic question! Our goal is to automate the tedious tasks... Banning spammers, bots, unwanted links, unwanted media, etc. When CryptoMod automatically handles these tedious tasks, it opens up the community for a better conversation and also reduces the bandwidth needed to support large communities.

With Shipchain, CryptoMod has been handling their community since they had about 8k users. Now they are about 37k users and all of those members are quality community members... aka we took out their garbage ;)

@nlw @sethlouey Awesome, just seems like such a "duh" and absolutely essential service

Basically - what's the balance of human and AI for this particular use case?

Whoa! Super cool. We had three people working full-time in three different timezones on a recent ICO. It was super frustrating to witness the insane amount of repeated questions and comments, both for the community managers who were moderating the channel, but also for the group members.

I'll make sure to ping you (@sethlouey) for next ICO we are taking on.

One question: Can you do anything with scammers? I guess not really, right? Mostly they contact group members in private messages with lookalike accounts.

Seth Louey
@tjalve we have a feature that autobans bots and anyone without a username. So, those scammers will automatically get banned. Also have a feature for a 24hr no posting rule. This should remove that shit. ;)

What is your token going to be used for?
1
Seth Louey
@sassal0x CryptoMod is a saas product that assists in cleaning up Telegram communities from scammers, spammers, phishing attacks, and unwanted bots. It also automates important scheduled messages and community alerts.

It's not a tokenized product and I don't see the need for a token at this time. It's strictly to assist Telegram crypto communities.

@sethlouey Awesome! That's refreshing to hear :) Thank you for the in-depth answer and best of luck with CryptoMod in the future!

@sassal0x no problem. :) Not everything needs/should be on the blockchain. ;) We, BotList, just want to provide bots to assist in everyday life and saw a need for crypto communities.

Seth Louey
@zackvoell admin can only control it, but community members can pull valuable information using #'s.
