How did you get into crypto?

@soonaorlater Working in media over the past decade it became clear that the current systems used for creator delivery were not ideal for both creator and end user. The notion of decentralization, incentive based systems and the idea of "permanence" all seemed like viable options for experimentation to build a better space for all creators alike. What I recognized was that blockchain's influence was gaining momentum and while it wasn't a guaranteed replacement to build better systems on, it was a new opportunity to extend what is currently available. Po.et is believes that media is moving towards this space and our investment in the work today will influence how many of these companies adapt to the realities of tomorrow. That's why I took the leap!

What's the grand vision behind Po.et?
0
JD
@soonaorlater Po.et aims to be a technology and platform that enables and unifies all creators. This comes in the form of being a secure platform for content ownership as well as a discovery mechanism for creators. I realized early on that the current media model is broken, in the sense that not only are the economic mechanisms flawed but we've completely lost track of what's most important; rewarding creators to build strong, factual, engaging and meaningful ideas. The reward systems didn't account for that, rather the idea of virality and scale at all costs. So the grand vision of Po.et is to build towards a decentralized future in which creators get to own the value they create.

Which problem does your po.et token solve?
0
JD
@dstuecken the po.et token enables content creators to generate cryptographically secure licenses for their digital assets. This is a strong value for our mission as it focuses on the importance of ownership. Furthermore, it provides an economic incentive for voting on the validity, accuracy and value of content within competing curated registries. Token solution is centered around strengthening the platform with economic incentives. We aim to be the platform for all ideas (ie. content). That is a value we provide in relation to the importance of ownership. Beyond that, we enable a marketplace to verify and highlight the best content in various hashes and topics. Through this, when people look for content and ideas for licensing or purchase on our Block Explorer or through APIs around certain subject matter they will not just see an algorithm, they will see an algorithm paired with a community of stake holders that stand behind an idea and believe in its importance to be discovered.

I'm not super well-read on content monetizing coins, but I'm aware a couple other coin projects seem to have goals similar to Po.et (e.g. STEEM, LUN) while some sites opt to just use coins BTC or BCH.

Can you break down how Po.et is the leader in this segment of the cryptocurrency space, in context of these other projects?

JD
@zackvoell The focus isn't specifically on content monetization but rather empowering creators to secure their assets, become discoverable and leverage a marketplace of verifiers and validators through economic incentives. This puts an emphasis on value. It's not just about consumers purchasing or rewarding creators but rather creators using a platform to strengthen and verify their work. This causes a value effect whereas once their content is validated, empowered by a community and the trusted source, discovery will come easier.

We believe in securing ideas the same way one would secure money or assets. By using the distributed ledger, we are giving creators around the world the opportunity to control and manage attribution so that they can receive market value for their ideas. We intend for Po.et to create this web of permanence so that the ideas, work and art of creators can be immutable. That is both the opportunity we see on the horizon and our direct mission today.

What can we look forward to for Po.et in 2018?

@SovCryptoBlog We're building a lot. I love to point people to our most recent articles about the sentiments behind why we're building Po.et and a post by our VP of Engineering, Eric Elliott (https://twitter.com/_ericelliott):

https://blog.po.et/the-internet-of-tomorrow-value-permanence-redefined-discovery-ecb2b0953da

We're focused on building tools, utilities and features to help empower the internet of permance and the internet of value. That means getting our products in the hands of more people so that they can start leveraging and growing with Po.et today. We recently released the Frost API on WP, so now 30% of web creators can seamlessly time stamp and secure their works on the blockchain. Our community has built hooks into other CMS' and together we are working forward to empower everyone with an idea to have it safely stored and used. We are building marketplaces for verification with registries and other opportunities for token holders to strengthen their work. This involves verification systems, the opportunity for badging, license issuances and content discovery. Through these means, we will surface the best content and open opportunities for rewards to go back in the hands of creators regardless of their platform, partners and systems.

What is the biggest thing you've changed your mind about in the space in the last 6 months?
0
JD
@eriktorenberg i think it's important to recognize where we are as an industry and where we are going. especially when it comes to widespread adoption, it's critical to think of ways to engage users and customers in a way that makes it both simple and exciting to use your product. in recent months, it seems there is a clear divide between those that believe blockchain is the future and those that dismiss it immediately. There needs to be a gray, because in that gray area we will operate in ways that help us get to scale. That is a big component of Po.et and how the past 6 months have influenced our development; there is no denying blockchain is going to impact all industries. When it comes to creators, long tail and large publishers, we are building and providing code and products to enable them to respond to this impact whenever they're ready to embrace it. We want to be leveraged and we feel we bring a huge value to the marketplace both with our technology (current and upcoming) as well as our utility as a token. Excited to see what comes next.
