In the escalating battle of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates to see who can offer the most free stuff, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., has taken the extraordinary step of calling for having the government forgive student loan debt. This pander will not only be incredibly costly, but it will be a slap in the face to those who have already struggled to pay off their student loans without government assistance.
The solution to the student loan debt crisis isn't more subsidies. It's to scrap bloated universities that still teach like it's the 18th century, treat arts degrees like the luxuries they are, and to create tax incentives for places like @LambdaSchool.

I paid off my student loans...couldn’t give a damn about future children not being burden with debt, especially since the cost of these institutions have gone up so much since I graduated 16 years ago. Person who wrote this article is an idiot.
Meh, it would be seen as a bonus by banks. I'm down to a sliver and still plan on paying it off well before this might take effect. But my pride stops at me, I don't care how you got into a better situation; I'm just glad shit ain't as hard for you.
Since I am a person who has paid off student loan debt and can firmly say, "No it wouldn't.", I have proven the Examiner to be completely and totally factually incorrect in this matter and can therefore extrapolate and and all statements they make are intentionally false.
Would also be a relief to the many more who have to pay unfair inflated cost of non progressed schools who went unchecked for so very long. Maybe have those who paid theirs off be given a thank you in tax cuts for a short time, it wouldnt be much but it's better then nothing. Idk this is a sticky situation. Just spitballing here.
I think free or reduced college is a great idea going forward. If you change the rules everyone knows the rules and can play accordingly. However randomly canceling debt for some people that chose to take it on doesn't seem like the best stance.
