Christine Sandler, Coinbase's head of coverage, told Cheddar's Tanaya Macheel that the crypto exchange is launching an agency-only OTC desk in response to demand from large, institutional investors. Unlike other offerings, Coinbase will not act as a counterparty to trades and will instead match client orders.
Some red flags here if you can read between the lines.
Clients will be able to trade any asset which trades on Coinbase Prime's order books, according to a memo the company sent to clients on Tuesday.
Sounds like Coinbase is establishing itself as an alternative Trade Desk for various unspecific assets. Could be anything from altcoins to stocks and bonds. This diversification sounds like a critical attempt to protect Coinbase as an entity in case Bitcoin goes bust. And right now, with all the expansion Coinbase did at the end of 2017, the company is probably far into the red, meaning that if Bitcoin tanks much lower, they might either have to go bankrupt, or, if they can get this Trade Desk up fast enough, stay afloat by pimping various altcoins or other assets. But by integrating a Trade Desk, they will be under heavy FINRA regulation and that will be very very important for people who want a level of anonymity or past questions of market manipulation. It's a make or break deal for Coinbase, in my opinion, and a sign that their own outlook on Bitcoin may not be that good.
You forget WHO funded and created Conbase: BANKSTERS. Their greed is pushing for getting their investment back and now they want more, plus that **they want to control the users**. This is the ultimate goal of a bankster.
Conbase is just the facade of the banksters into the crypto world.
And in doing so, convinced thousands/millions of bitcoin investors to buy at an all-time high because it was going to the moon and continued to tell them to hodl-on while their investments went to shit over the course of a year. You're no better than them.
Nope, those who tell to noobs to "invest" in Bitcoin to became rich are EXACTLY the banksters tools.
Real bitcoiners will never tell to a noob that this is an investment.
You have a wrong perception of what is going on here.
Please show me one post of mine where I said to a noob, yes buy now and sell tomorrow for a higher price.
