Idk why people saw the under-“performing” part of this title and immediately assumed it to mean “underperforming” within the context of monetary return potential for Consensys. Maybe it means underperforming within the context of execution and progress in relation to its white paper?
I'm not really sure why they're not charging for Infura. My company would be happy to pay for it, as I'm sure would many others. The fact that it's free actually worries me since I like to build on infrastructure that I know has a sustainable business model.
I would imagine at this point it would be based on potential for ROI vs actual ROI at this point in time. And are they close to an MVP or launchable product. Also not limited to ROI but adoption as a performer. Metamask is an example of that. It makes adoption that much easier for “basic” users. Just a guess.
Very worth the read. And yeah I absolutely agree: the bear market forces projects to focus on work and not to rely on their ETH or BTC holdings they collected during the ICO mania. Prove you were worth the investment!
I can speak from experience that accountability is growing in ConsenSys. Collegiate student organizations in the ConsenSys College Consortium (CCC) are expected to contribute and keep proper books.
I think it is the way to go. This space needs builders and should be willing to "fail faster".
Hasn't GRID+ largely failed due to things outside their control? Incumbent energy companies managed to get rid of smart meters in the markets they could enter like Texas and push for regulations to kill their business model. The team has been great but it's not looking good for their original plans, now they look like a hardware wallet company.
Because Grid is shipping. Market cap means nothing in a highly irrational market. Only way to change that is to build the fundamentals that the market can’t ignore

Makes sense. It was no secret where all the money was coming from to sustain projects which should've had a beta mvp months ago. One thing I love about this brutal bear market is that only the strong projects will survive.
"No free grazing here boys", one of my buddies used to say.
