I like predictions. I’ve been in these subreddits for almost 3 years now reading them nonstop...
Please and thank you!
I wonder if she can kneecap the crypto industry as much as the other Ripple board member, Ben Lawsky. He's the guy who is responsible for the Bitlicense. If you live in New York and can't access certain exchanges, it's because of the Bitlicense.
They just recently snatched up [**Breanne Madigan**](https://www.theblockcrypto.com/2019/05/28/blockchain-com-loses-goldman-sachs-veteran-to-ripple/) the former Goldman's Sachs Global Head of Institutional Wealth Manager who oversaw a portfolio worth over \~1.5 trillion in total assets as their VP of Institutional Markets. So, I don't think we need to worry about exits like this as long as you see competent additions being brought on-board as well. Even CZ said that the move would [**benefit both Binance and Ripple**](https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1146114259509579776).
I think it can be good news if she stays true to Ripples plan as laid out by maroule's comment.
However, she might just be moving on for better personal opportunities. Losing the head of the most pivotal part of Ripples game plan (establish enough liquidity that xRapid can actually take off) could easily set back their progress.
Worst case - it could be taken as a sign that Ripple has not been successful at gaining traction on establishing institutional liquidity.
That makes me believe this is not good news. I'm glad they're moving on from a relationship that couldn't get them to the next level - but this was not some 4D move to integrate their strategy with binance.
She went from being an executive (unsure of exact title) to CEO of U.S. operations for one of the largest crypto exchanges. She’s going to take that opportunity. Given that Binance has already said they want to be an xRapid partner there is no real way to interpret this as bad news. If anything it furthers Ripple’s reach given her experience in the company and her new responsibilities as CEO.
Sounds like the exec from Microsoft going over to be CEO of Nokia and a little later, Nokia decides that it's going to go all in on Windows mobile.
Of course it didn't work out for Nokia, but it was already struggling at the time.
Hopefully it works out well for Binance, Ripple, XRP, Catherine and the whole cryptocurrency space.
Undoubtedly a great opportunity for her - but Joel's tweet above implies that she wasn't a great fit at ripple anymore.
Perhaps there's more thats happening behind the scenes - but all we can say for certain (given Joel's tweet) is that ripple's head of XRP institutional liqidity wasn't getting it done, which is not a good sign.
You’re jumping to major conclusions.
1: the tweet David is responding to mentioned several people. He then replied very vaguely about what could apply to one or more of these people. Nothing specific ties to Catherine.
2: What makes you think this occupational shift for a rising finance superstar to a clear promotion in responsibilities somehow in anyway means that she was doing her job poorly at Ripple? Nonsense.
If you've worked in a corporate setting you would easily pick up on patterns. Managers just don't come and go, unless the benefits and compensation suck and you're given impossible tasks to meet with limited resources. I'm leaning towards she knew she needed to make an exit before she was given enough pressure to submit her resignation letter to the CEO and HR.
In the end, it's only speculation sprinkled with a little knowledge with working for higher-level management like GCs, CEOs, CFOs, etc...
Joel's tweet tells she's more of a start-up phase type of manager, not a grow out and structure / formalize type of manager. This is exactly the same reason people switch in New external managers in this phase, it requires a different set of skills.
Seems like setting up base for binance would fit her profile more, if she is the foot in the door type :)
