RT @nataliesurely: literally the whole point of the green new deal is that climate change demands mass-scale systemic change and can’t be solved with individual lifestyle tweaks https://t.co/fEyw4rMVhr

Score one for investigative journalism! AOC guilty of hypocrisy on a large scale...
Should we be surprised? (The only thing that would surprise me is if this was reported by The NY Times or CNN)
AOC is just pissed that white people were in America first (excluding native Americans) and made all the wealth and continue to just hand the wealth down from one generation to another.
People don’t actually hate wealthy people they’re just jealous that it wasn’t their ancestors who had wealth to pass down. Nothing is going to change that white Americans had first crack at obtaining wealth and many did just that.
So her socialism is a way to even the playing field which will never happen you can not undue white people being in the game first especially before it became so competitive as it is today.
This is why people act like they hate Trump because he was a recipient of wealthy white parents. So those less fortunate try to instill the white guilt or just yell blanket racist accusations. It’s just envy.
So in the end I find many POC just hate white people not because of their color but because of their wealth.
Is this supposed to be a counter-argument? Composting is not that hard. If you can't compost your own banana peels in your own home, then maybe hold off on spending tens of trillions of dollars of other peoples money on other peoples property while pointing a gun at other peoples head? How about not eating meat for starters? Was that hard to do?
How about not using Uber and Lyft when you are against Uber and Lyft? If you are using them, then stop bitching. Nobody pulled your tongue AOC. This is hypocrisy plain and simple.
Also banning of the airplanes ... then stop using them for yourself first. How is banning them an improvement? It's a regressive step toward the stone age. Lots of people depend on airplanes for making a living. They can just get fucked? Fuck Alaska, fuck Hawaii, fuck lots of places and lots of people.
Rules for thee but not for me - that's what is it.
Participating in a society my ass.
Not only are her proposals retarded, she has no skin in the game.
Thanks to her Trump 2020 baby.
> Whatever you do, don't learn what a "systemic critique" is.
LOL sophomore. You think you actually know something about something.
Your first post was a poor attempt at trolling based on crude straw-man.
It is embarrassing.
Ok, let me spell it out for you:
Pretty much everyone in our society relies on gas/diesel burning vehicles, for personal transportation, and for all the goods we consume to reach us. All of us, even people who don't own cars and bicycle everywhere, rely on gas/diesel burning transportation that powers our economy.
So we all do it, some of us want to make an effort to change that, to varying degrees. If you accept the false premise of the headline, that people who cause more carbon emissions cannot advocate for reducing carbon emissions, you're dismissing every single environmentalist as a hypocrite.
Its like when people support higher taxes, and someone says "oh yeah, well then why don't you JUST VOLUNTARILY PAY MORE?!?!!" The answer is obvious: it wouldn't matter, the goal is systemic change, which would make a difference, but requires collective action.
I'm sorry, that probably all went over your head, what I mean is "you have AOC-derangement-syndrome lol ur like 'brown woman bad!' you fuckin npc cuck, get triggered!" Also, post your hog, or I won't take you seriously.
what's it like to be so triggered by conservatives that you go to a subreddit for a city that's hundreds of miles away from your own so you can shitpost about them?
remember: trump is still your president
I don't really see how AOC taking ubers is hypocritical. The Subway doesn't reach all parts of NYC, and in a city where time is money, you can't afford to waste hours each day waiting on unreliable transit.
She's not wrong: NYC and America in general needs better public transit infrastructure, the fact that her campaign has to rely on car services even when her main office is 100 feet from a subway is just more proof of that fact.
telling people they shouldn't drive gas cars or fly planes and then doing it is the pinnacle of hypocrisy. she, like other new yorkers, can leave early when she needs to travel via the subway.
if you can't be about it, don't talk about it.
She didn't say you should never fly planes - that's a reading of her policy that only idiots believe.
Of course, only idiots pay close attention to her - the only time she's mentioned on this sub it's someone like you bringing her up and flopping around. "She's a hypocrite because she has a minivan!" "She's a hypocrite because she took an uber!"
It's like you dips think you can't want to change something while still being part of it.
And sure, you're going to flip out and post about 300 times in response to this comment, as you always do, because you're a fragile person that thinks being an angry asshole makes you smart or superior, when it just makes you an emotionally unstable angry asshole that picks his opinions based around trying to make others angry. You're the type of idiot that thinks being downvoted to hell makes you right, because others can't handle it, instead of realizing it just means you're an unlikeable person.
didn't read any of that because I'm still waiting on those two times you've called me a racist and have not substantiated your claims.
no point in arguing with someone who can't actually support their own arguments
feel free to take all the time you need. it's been a few weeks but I'm confident you'll turn up something soon
>telling people they shouldn't drive gas cars or fly planes
Except she isn't doing that. Directly from the article, her goals are:
> totally overhaul transportation by massively expanding electric vehicle manufacturing, build charging stations everywhere, build out high-speed rail … create affordable public transit available to all, with goal to replace every combustion-engine vehicle.”
She's not telling people they shouldn't drive or fly. She is telling people they shouldn't NEED to fly or drive. There should be usable alternatives that work for the majority of Americans. The fact that she needs to use car services is only proof that America needs better transit infrastructure that works for more Americans.
I realize she's not telling each person directly but her green new deal is very clear on where it stands and how petrol cars and jets shouldn't be in our future
how do you think those will go away? do you think her constituents will just drop their transportation or, like is typical of socialism, they will be strong armed into it, which is essentially the same thing as being told you're not allowed to use those modes
>how do you think those will go away?
>expanding electric vehicle manufacturing, build charging stations everywhere, build out high-speed rail … create affordable public transit available to all,
In response to you next point;
>do you think her constituents will just drop their transportation or, like is typical of socialism, they will be strong armed into it, which is essentially the same thing as being told you're not allowed to use those modes
I got rid of my car because mass transit was faster, cheaper, and more convenient than keeping it. Are you saying e shouldn't have usable, reliable public transit in America?
oh right I forgot she won 100% of the vote. it was a historical blowout never before seen.
let's assume she gets into a position where she has power over the entire state. do you think all of her constituents will agree with her then? if they refuse to use electric cars, what will happen?
What's it like being the [dumbest fucking person alive](https://nypost.com/2019/03/04/ocasio-cortez-says-gas-guzzling-minivan-belongs-to-her-aunt/https://nypost.com/2019/03/04/ocasio-cortez-says-gas-guzzling-minivan-belongs-to-her-aunt/)?
so that discounts the parade of ubers and planes she has taken, got it
what's it like living in a bubble of ignorance that frequently bursts when faced with reality?
must suck to support such a hypocritical "activist"
It's true -- you can't advocate for a better society while participating in it. The only way to critique society at all is if you live in a cave, cut off from the world & anything in it, and completely unable to effect the actual change you want to see happen.
She's a member of congress you fucking dolt. Yeah, they have to go places with transportation. They don't walk to DC.
I bet she even owns an iPhone! You should totally nail her on that, Kierkegaard!
How do you tie your fucking shoes without having a looney tunes safe fall on your fucking head every morning, you utter dunce.
"you should stop driving cars, taking planes and eating burgers but me? oh no, I'm a politician, I can do what I want and if you don't like that then tough!" furthermore your point that AOC can't do her job properly because she shouldn't participate in the lives of her constituents is absolutely hilarious.
people like you elect these raging hypocrites to the government and then wonder why people make fun of you.
Do you know how capital owners make money? By taking the excess labor of their workers. Damn... that's almost like theft?
A third of the members of the Forbes 400 own fortunes derived from companies that were founded by earlier generations. Guess the world owed them their daddy's fortunes right?
You think they're working really hard? You think the Koch fail-son who owns a fucking Hawaiian shirt company is really toiling in the fucking mines?
Imagine being so fucking dumb as to lick the fucking boots of the indolent rich and think you're standing up for hard work.
>Do you know how capital owners make money? By taking the excess labor of their workers. Damn... that's almost like theft?
Not at all, entrepreneurship is one of the factors of production and creates opportunity, there's nothing unearned about reaping this excess.
No objections on the rest though, the larger your business the bigger your social responsibility.
Nope. Labor is only one component of production. Any business education would teach you that. When someone applies for a job, negotiates a wage, then receives a paycheck, it’s theft? That’s a stretch.
That problem is easily fixed with inheritance taxes. However, very few politicians would be willing to vote for those, as they too have multi generational wealth.
Yeah I’m sure they work hard. White collar labor is equally exhausting if not more. The union boss shouting about his $65/hr workers doesn’t add value.
It’s ok, you can fix it. Just seek education. The internet will help you learn.
White collar labor isn't capital owning. The key word is "labor" in that phrase. White collar labor isn't collecting rent. Tough to parse, I know. I guess you missed that in your internet economics education?
If you've learned everything from the Internet, no wonder you think John Galt is someone to emulate. Enjoy the infowars, big guy.
How do you afford to live in the west village? That area is expensive af. Does the “capital owning class” subsidize you?
Yes it is. I’m white collar, my bonuses are paid in stock options. When I was a teenager, I used my wages to buy stocks (fractional ownership) that appreciated nicely.
White collar collects rent all the time. It’s called being a landlord or a business owner. Small businesses are everywhere. Are you delusional?
So if I claim I'm charitable when I'm not and expecting others to do so, am I exempt from being called out for not practicing what I preach?
Read the article! She flies by plane despite her wanting to eliminate air travel, she uses Uber despite criticizing them for killing Yellow Cab despite never riding in a Yellow Cab, she doesn't recycle, never once rode the subway, she doesn't have a compost bin, she eats meat, and she is killing jobs!
It's a willfully ignorant non sequitur fallacy.
One individual's use of transportation is a drop in the bucket of our civilization's carbon emissions. The whole point of a Green New Deal is to make fundamental changes to our national power grid, industrial practices, building philosophies.
This is like saying "You take a prescription medication, so how dare you suggest we need to reform the pharmaceutical industry!"
As a matter of fact, the ASPCA (the non-crazy version of PETA) does advocate for [humane meat/egg/dairy production](https://www.aspca.org/shopwithyourheart/consumer-resources/meat-eggs-and-dairy-label-guide).
It's almost as if advocating for reforms in a system is not the same as completely demolishing the system.
> working with farmers "to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions ... as much as is technologically feasible"
Eliminate water vapors and carbon dioxide emissions from farming. How is that demolishing the farming system?

“We’re like, ‘The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change,’ ” the progressive darling said in January, speaking of herself and her fellow millennials. “And, like, this is the war; this is our World War II.”
Like, does she have to talk like an airhead from a 90s movie? Like, totally.
