"#Bitcoin’s *failure* to raise its blocksize by a significant amount in 2016–17 was a travesty and a great violation of many people’s expectations of the protocol, and one that led to more total losses due to excess txfees [vs MtGox]" @VitalikButerinhttps://t.co/0W9FLgADM0
Vitalik, you suck man. Got 20% of my investment in your coin, you got like 43214341254i325 developer teams on your pay roll. What the fuck are they doing? Where is your innovation man? I had high hopes for this shit coin you have. Is ethereum's failure, bitcoin's fault as well?
Lightning is simply better technology, nearing 6,000 nodes @ 21,000 channels. It is also one avenue in which will help to ensure Bitcoin remains free from attack and any one's control, a situation in which Ethereum remains entrenched. Focus on the real problems and help to build a better future.
They're addressing the point being made by providing context that is critical to understanding the subject being talked about.
Pointing out that Vitalik's own invention is a disaster is important context when assessing the credibility of him and his writings.
Sorry but no. It's a logical fallacy and rightfully discouraged from use during a debate because it attempts to discredit an argument not by refuting the claim itself, but by alleging hypocrisy and engaging in character assassination.
If you are going to counter an argument, address the claims being made.
Edit: To make myself clear, I am not arguing that Ethereum is good or bad. This has nothing to do with Ethereum.
Sorry but yes. You're suggesting that character and credibility are not factors when deciding whether somebody's argument is right or wrong. And that's nonsense.
Humans are not computers, and rely overwhelmingly on heuristics to determine what is right and what is wrong. This was identified as far back as Aristotle's Art of Rhetoric which separated persuasion into 3 parts, only one of which has anything to do with having a sound argument.
If a man ran up to you on the street and told you that the CIA was after him and put chips in his brain and if you help him he'll reward you with a billion dollars, would you believe him? Is your choice based on the merits of his arguments? Or his character?
Not intentionally. Is complaint isn't even valid lol - I wonder how long it is gonna take for people to drop this mythical narrative of these "high BTC fees" I keep hearing about.
So why are you in this sub? One of the many trolls flocking here to freak out while the shitcoin market falls apart today?
Well, Vitalik is not only wrong, but he is wrong in a way that highlights the massive failures of his own premined security which can't even be fully synced anymore. If you want to complain about 'whataboutism' then you should complain to Vitalik.
