RT @J9Roem: As someone who:
- greatly improved my life & career options by getting involved in Bitcoin, as an open system
- was recently detained as a false-positive human trafficking victim
this is also my response to such a proposal. https://t.co/NO23S9GNvC
Yes, because there's lots of Thai girls that are being exploited in the mining facilities.
Who makes this shit up. Terrorism didn't work, let's go to the next subject that could hit the headlines. https://t.co/LNcSQIYXy3
“It’s couched as regulating but what it would be is an effective ban on American persons or businesses using open blockchain networks because it would require them to use it on a permissioned basis,” - @valkenburgh https://t.co/MYgzli8N0X
As someone who actually does fight against human trafficking in my day job, I'd point out this guy is clueless and doing what he asks for would make absolutely no difference whatever when it comes to trafficking. "Oh good, we can kidnap girls and sell them now that Bitcoin has been invented" said no slaver, ever.
Right. It’s another crime-association attempt to please the paymasters. We have to anticipate this stuff and formulate answers in advance. They will play their ham-handed game of civic control chess, we must play better.
Well this is a gold mine of blockchain tech ignorance.
David Murray, recommended that Congress create a new class of regulated financial institutions known as “virtual asset transaction validators,” i.e. crypto miners..
Transactions are validated by the network, that's the mempool. Miners choose what to include in the blocks.
...miners must, at the very least, govern who can participate in networks, and vet any issuers, exchanges or custodians they serve.
It's open source, and miners have no say in who can and can not participate in the network. Perhaps American miners could exclude transactions from their blocks. Everyone else will include them though.
I think you do not understand WHY he is in that job position. He's NOT to stop human trafficking, but to cover up. All the rest is just noise so the media will present him as the primary voice against human trafficking.
We use to say: who is screaming louder to catch the thief, is the real thief...
Plot twist: the job got done, but it wasn't the job described.
> “It’s couched as regulating but what it would be is an effective ban on American persons or businesses using open blockchain networks because it would require them to use it on a permissioned basis,” Van Valkenburgh told CoinDesk, adding:
“It’s just a ban on a whole type of technology.”
The problem is that none of those things threaten the supremacy of the USD as a world reserve currency. Bitcoin does. Like I have said before, 'they' have not even begun to fight yet. Bitcoin is still in the 'they ignore you' phase. The bigger bitcoin gets, the more desperate these attacks will become.
Correct. We must anticipate them and have responses ready. Their gripes are usually painted in primary colors, ham-fisted and logically weak. Intellectually dishonest. Should not be hard to nip these buds if we keep our eyes open for them and the scissors of logic sharp ✂️
100% correct. The financial system is their taser to undermine the power of the people so they can keep us as subjects. They don’t want to lose their weapon but it’s happening anyways. Can’t wait to watch them slink defeated into the shadows of basically customer service to the people — like it should be.
“The trend toward decentralized and autonomous systems threatens our ability to control access to the U.S. financial system”
^ The actual reason is also in his testimony. Make no mistake, attempting to regulate miners in the way he wants to do it, would have the same effect as a ban. It would not stop Bitcoin, but it would completely fuck the industry in America.
Another thing, really wish people in this sub wouldn't automatically downvote articles like this. We must be aware of the ways they're trying to fuck us so we can prepare. They're sneaky. They're using things like this to try and ban permission-less blockchains.
Right so this all is stupid. It would take China-style wholesale banning of much separate tech, and patently not deter one bad actor while only temporarily slowing this brilliantly-designed-for-exactly-this juggernaut of economic peace, freedom and power for for the people.
It still hasn’t completely all dawned on them. Just wait.
Lots of shrinking and whimpering to come from the mouths of some real bad actors on the slave-style governance side. And from the Blockbuster-video-like abusive banks.
