Public records show Chainalysis made more than $10 million in five years from the U.S. government and stands to take in more than $14 million, dwarfing its competitors in the blockchain surveillance industry.
"Chainalysis is now the cryptocurrency-tracing equivalent of Palantir". Great deep dive from @realDannyNelson into the government contracts funding the blockchain tracking company. One stood out to me: it's second biggest contractor, at $2.6M: ICE. https://t.co/0xHteKJi0E
They're just doing contract work so it doesn't mean they have any allegiance to the government. Although I guarantee that large FBI contract in 2019 had something to do with operation SaboTor and the Dream market.
"Federal agencies have spent at least $10 million ($10,690,706 to be precise) in American tax dollars on Chainalysis’ tools, services and training since 2015, when Chainalysis was founded, according to 82 records of federal procurement contracts reviewed by CoinDesk. Counting contracts with possible extensions, the company stands to take in more than $14 million."
Big money for blockchain analytics, small fry for government contracts. I think the people at chainalysis are undervaluing their product. either way, they are still govt stooges.
