"The similarities between the Lightning Network and the internet in many respects are striking. It’s no accident that the term Lightning Service Provider resembles Internet Service Provider. They’re similar in that they both connect users to a wider network..." https://t.co/uv1UjfEBRx
I thought I recognised the picture at the top of the article linked to. Cheese-Rolling down Cooper's Hill here in the UK (not far from where I live). Not sure how it's linked with LN or bitcoin, other than btc's price going down hill at the moment!
1. Currently Breez "eats" the fees, but it's a business decision, not a technical one. We can charge setup fees if needed.
2. It's a costly attack. It requires installing the Breez app, waiting for confirmation and the "know-how" of closing. Seems to be more costly than the fee.
As it says in the article, there's a very low barrier of entry to become an LSP. You can even be your own LSP. There's no risk of centralization at all, on the contrary, this will provide support for P2P that will prevent users from using centralized solutions.
