Microsoft’s current market cap has overtaken Apple’s, after living for nearly a decade in the shadow of the Cupertino company. At the time of writing Microsoft’s intra-day Market Cap is now 751.88B, higher than competing company Apple Inc. which is now 749.75B, by more than 2 billion dollars. Amazon (currently 741.90B) and Apple were dubbed the world’s most …
AAPL makes almost 2x profit, it'll be at about 10 years before MSFT makes the amount of after tax profit that Apple makes today. Both are growing at similar rates and have similar amounts of cash (over 200b each)
Despite being good friends with Gates, Buffet decided to go all in on AAPL instead of MSFT. There is something irrational going on here.
The world’s most valuable company is family. The second is friendship. The third is camaraderie.
Money is a form of communication the use of which not only no longer helps humanity, it is killing us. It is one of the four main fear based social systems along with war, exclusive tribalism and religious control.
We have grown past these imperfect attempts to regulate our societies, we have turned the world inside out and live on the inside of the globe able to look across the chasms between us into each other’s living rooms. These are very exciting times.
Windows 10 is an attempt by MS to see how long end users are willing to deepthroat a dick without complaining. There are some good Windows 10 features - mostly leftover 7 features that were improved- but all in all I can’t imagine a parallel in the business world of a company so blatantly fucking with their customer base - and - apparently successfully.
I can disable almost every Windows 10 service and “feature” and more effectively use my computer. There is no integrity in building an operating system that becomes more effective when it’s essential parts are disabled. It is like a new car working better after removing all the bolts that hold the transmission in place, the odometer, and the oil cap.
didnt you just do the bear market story? should be implied. it was more surprising to me that msft hasnt been similarly impacted. as MS goes more and more “open source” it is increasingly (as a casual listener; i probably could dig into it if i had the time) a mystery what accounts for growth. is Azure catching up? is Office 360 a smash hit? havent heard a thing.
Yeah... I figured everyone had dipped under $1T. But I actually wasn't surprised that Microsoft was sort of floating above it all. At least relatively. I'll keep my eyes peeled for analysis of this and try to do a segment about this on the show soon. Bottom line: they're doing just fine in cloud stuff.
