A Turkish court has sentenced journalist Pelin Ünker to 13 months' imprisonment for her participation in reporting the Panama Papers, a massive leak of documents from the tax-evasion enablers Mossack-Fonseca. Ünker published the true (and undisputed) facts about former Binali Yıldırım and his sons, whose ownership of Maltese companies was revealed in the leaks. Despite…
People have to realize that we don't live in a democracy, we live in a dictatorship... of the burgeoise.
"Freedom in capitalist society always remains about the same as it was in ancient Greek republics: Freedom for slave owners." - Lenin
On a side note. What were these reporters really thinking???
I am sure there are quite a few honest and well meaning investigative reporters, outside of the corporate media, who really believe in exposing corruption.
However the problem with them is that they are liberals, and they have totally bought into this freedom/democracy/universality/human-rights bullshit myth that liberal democracy pretends to be.
So when shit like this happens, they simply can't understand why the so called "democracy" that they have believed in doesn't defend them?
The problem with liberals is not that they are pretentious assholes (like other right-wingers), but that they really believe in this bullshit, and they really think that the freedoms that they have are unconditional, whereas we can see that freedom in a burgeoise dictatorship is an illusion.
So it's not just enough to expose corruption, but to expose the system itself for what it really is and not what it pretends to be.
Remember that time when a bunch of intrepid reporters uncovered a treasure-trove of documents proving a global conspiracy by the wealthiest members of society — including US President Donald Trump — to defraud taxpayers and governments on a scale that dwarfs the GDP of most nations?
Remember how in the US, the IRS destroyed the lives of thousands of fairly ordinary citizens with long prison sentences for avoiding taxes, ranging from Wesley Snipes to just your average business people?
Remember how the NYT exposed the US president for $400 million in tax fraud?
I remember! Remember how the freedom of information act proved so many conspiracy theories. Like the fact the government has been experimenting with brain washing. Oh and all the false flag stuff was pretty interesting. Oh and how all the presidents, and most government higher ups. Along with the richest people in the world are all part of a secret organization. Bent on ruling the world, and keeping the masses in the dark.
Yes, and its true. Most conspiracy theories have been proven true. A theory does not mean it isn't true. Like the theory of thermodynamics. Or the theory of relativity. Conspiracy theories were created by some of the brightest thinkers in the world. People just refuse to believe them even with mountains of evidence to back up there theories. Because there ideas are to outlandish. For example Another completely proven fact that is considered to outlandish, and a conspiracy theory. Are you aware that every president we have ever had has been related to each other. Sure it was far off relations but they were. Basically every president we have ever had has been related by blood to the royal families of europe. In fact at every election the candidate that has the most royal blood has always been the one to win. In the past there have been candidates on both sides with royal blood. The winner is always the one with more. This has held true since George Washington.
Dude the government was forced to release documentation through the freedom of information act that prove 90 percent of the conspiracies true. I mentioned this in another comment try to read the whole thread next time. These government theorists are basically just people that have decided to figure out what is fucked with the government. They spy, hack, and try to find whatever they can to put the pieces together. Risking there life to figure out the truth. Everyone just calls them crazy. Its fucking tragic. They are not mainstream. They are very fringe. People like you never believe them. Even though theories are provable ideas. They literally show the data backing there theories, and are still called crazy. Look, things like flat earth theory are proven false just like every other theory can be. But just because one theory is wrong does not mean all of them are. The only reason science has advanced as far as it has is through tons of mistakes. There use to be a mainstream scientist who was convinced that rotten meat births flys. Not that flys lay eggs on the meat mind you. Just that the meat itself is the source of flys. Then he was proven wrong using science. The same process works with all theories. These conspiracy theories are not earth shattering revelations. But people still think there insane. Being in the socialist reddit. Do you honestly believe the government is above these thing. Like trying mind control experiments on its citizens using forced dosage of hallucinogens. Which was proven true. Or the one where they tested the effects of syphilis on humans. They lied about there being a cure to those people. That one was also proven true. It was proven the gulf of tonkin was a false flag operation. So that we would go to war with viet nam. Do you believe the government was above this.
http://www.atlanteanconspiracy.com/2008/06/presidential-bloodlines.html?m=1 one of the many. But i like how this explains it better. Not sure if believe in atlantis. But they do show proof of the other stuff. Also from looking around again after this much time i don't believe it was every single president.
So I read the Turkish law, and as I understand it, if I break the law via say fraud, and someone says I am a liar for committing fraud. That person is defaming me by hurting my honor under Turkish law. If they say I’m a fucking liar, they are really dishonoring me,
So basically in turkey commiting any crime results in the person reporting the crime as a potential criminal via criminal defamation laws.
Not the first, sadly won't be the last I'm sure. Did we all forget about the Maltese journalist who was killed over exposing her government's misdeeds through the Panama papers as well? And I'm sure there were countless other missing journalists or dissenters who we don't/didn't hear about. It's almost as if these countries now feel emboldened to freely attack the press after our Cheeto in chief defended the Saudis instead of condemning them for their murder of an American citizen/journalist.
It's why Snowden made the deal with the devil. "Freedom" (or at least a simulation thereof) in an authoritarian state or life in Gitmo? We are nothing but toys for the elites, and God help you if you stand up to them or try to dispel the illusions they work so hard to propogate.
Turkey is really developing into a terrible nation these days. I wonder if things would be drastically different if the Euro zone would have welcomed them years ago. I’m sure the Middle East conflict and subsequent flood of refugees hasn’t helped.
Got me thinking that one day there may be a clever AI and we will all be expressing ourselves and being applauded for our great comments but our comments and posts will not be going to real people. Our messages will go to AI that will allows us to think we are super popular and a lot of people agree with us.
There will be a lot of freedom in our own personal golden cages as we twitter away. The video games will be multiplayer, and we will all be the best player.

I'm almost certain that that's the plan for the gatekeepers.
