I keep seeing this truck plastered all over reddit. Do people actually WANT one of these things? Sure, if it was cheap I could understand it, but for way less than $77k you could have a bad ass Jeep or something else off road capable. Something you could drive cross country without having to worry if you can find a place to plug it in. I'm sorry, but this vehicle is hideous. If I see you driving one I will think you are a complete idiot. I won't tell you that, but I will be thinking it.
I just can't see the practicality of towing a trailer with an EV. Not a hater at all, but your range would be destroyed. I guess if you only go to locations within maybe... 100 miles max of your home?
As a city-slicker myself, this whole truck world is all relatively new to me, but 10mpg while towing is something I quickly had to adjust to.
I imagine 300 mile range on the aerodynamic EVs becomes 100 miles while towing a giant square box.
If you are the type of camper that goes to sites with power/water, I suppose you can get to a site within range and charge overnight.
If you are into off-grid camping, you need to get there and back on a charge or wait for a full charge close to arrival or soon after leaving which sounds like a major bummer.
If however you want a cool/weird truck that stays around town, then this works well.
That 10 square foot windshield and top glass are at the perfect angles for catching hail stones.
how is the Rivian going, is it becoming vaporware...lol I know at the price they said they wanted to make seemed impossible but I like the look of it.
Am I the only one who thinks it looks like a car from a PS1 game when graphics were more pointy?
The payload and towing specs are really good, as is the range, and frankly the price compared to other trucks.
It's still ugly though.
The seats are what get me. They are sports car seats. Not big comfy truck seats designed to eat highway miles.
My back already hurts
Teslas are cool but they're still city kid toys imo. I live outside of Portland, Oregon and there are no superchargers in my county, so I'd either have to drive an hour into Portland to get a full charge quickly, or plug in at home and wait it out. Based on the limited number of superchargers, one has to plan longer trips around where to charge, which is manageable but still a minor inconvenience for now. Anyways, it's cool to see the prices getting more reasonable and I'm warming up to the idea of an EV but I still can't see it as the only vehicle in the family, gas/diesel still offers a ton of convenience.
so its 77k for the max range/autopilot edition.. whats this 500 miles going to look like when my route has multiple mountain passes and the temp is 5F. will I realistically be able to recharge without unhitching? where am I going to park the trailer when I have to drive into some parking garage to recharge
all those headaches when I can just pick up a stretched megacab for 55k? http://stretchmytruck.com/for-sale/
This has to be a joke. Come on. With all the swoopy curvy Tesla designs they come out with this strange angular Sci Fi movie thing?
All other vehicles that Tesla made were good looking. This might be technically capable, but there is NO WAY I'd ever buy one unless someone replaced the body with a conventional pickup truck design.
I'm sorry but that truck looks sripid. Looks like some designer couldn't come up with a cool idea and saw his son playing Halo 1 and copied a Warthog
I just want to see the trail of sewer hoses and kids' bikes erupt out of and off of the bumper the first time truck & trailer get launched to 60mph in under 3 seconds.
Not sure what they were thinking with the look, but those specs are certainly something to stop and think!
Pretty cool. 3500 lbs payload and 6 1/2 foot bed means a truck camper will have no problem riding in there. With all of Tesla's charging stations, this is the first viable electric RV platform.

I put my deposit down, but never got an email back. This thing is going to rock even if you get too much unwanted attention while driving it.
