RT @fundstrat: This is un-related but shows White House can issue an ‘executive order’ banning anything. And could even ban bitcoin. Not expecting it. But with current White House, there is “nothing out of bounds nor out of reach”
Exactly. They will just sell vg/pg nic blends and a few display cases down will sell food grade flavorings "not for vaping." Like smoke shops selling glassware for "tobacco use only" or nitrous canisters for "whipped cream"
Not this... What this article didn't mention was how much each sku would cost to be approved by the FDA. Last time this came up I believe it was $10k per flavor per strength... How's that for small business!?
Example: I have 10 different flavors in 0mg, 3mg, and 6mg so I would have to pay $300,000 just to be cleared by the FDA plus the admistrative overhead of running a shop... Guess I'm done... Can't wait until Walmart or Amazon or Google decide to come out with a flavor that I like and hey who knows I might also like the vaccine they sneak in there ;)
He already cracked, probably sometime in the 90s. He's just basically a manic puppet now, he's more like chucky than an actual human. But even chucky did a good thing, he lowered the human populace...it's a bit abstract, but I support it.
OP's title arranged the title of the article in a manner not consistent with the article. Nobody is correlating the 2 events except OP's title. Trump administration said this
The Trump Administration is making it clear that we intend to clear the market of flavored e-cigarettes to reverse the deeply concerning epidemic of youth e-cigarette use that is impacting children, families, schools and communities,” Azar said in a statement. “We will not stand idly by as these products become an on-ramp to combustible cigarettes or nicotine addiction for a generation of youth.
The article then goes on to say, to paraphrase: speaking of vaping, there is an outbreak of lung hospitalizations due to THC vapes, this is running concurrent to efforts to stop kids from vaping flavored nicotine
Fuck Juul. Your shitty product and shitty company targeting children FUCKED it for the rest of us who were vaping LOOONNNGG before Juul was a thing. Fuck Juul. Fuck the company, if any Juul reps are here, fuck your company.
Juul is the favorite amongest the youth for a reason, be it it's ease, size, marketing or any combination of those factors. They waited too long to response to underage use and now we all get lumped in and screwed. Vaping was a novelty in 2013 when I started and the devil only after Juul arrived.
Juul is the center of this moral panic crisis, can't be denied.
You don’t know what you’re talking about dude. I’m sorry. I could elaborate but it’s my birthday and I don’t want to spend an hour of it discussing temperature control and availability in gas stations and the role the gas station plays in all of this, as well as the fact that juul was always meant to be a cigarette replacement, not tapering mechanism device due specifically to its potency, which admittedly would aid in its popularization. But who are we making the villain here? The people who made an amazing ecig available to the masses, or the people who refuse to listen to the public that rule us infringing upon our freedoms due to corruption?
TLDR quit yelling at juul and yell at the government officials who aren’t listening to the public.
Gov't officals largely will ignore us and soak in praise as they ban vaping. I can scream all I want, hell I have but guess what, I'm just a dirty vapor corrupting the youth and its better I die. Thats what they think. So excuse me for talking some frustration out on Juul.
I don't know how long you've been vaping, but shit didn't hit the fan as far as public opinion going south UNTIL Juul. You could see it happen in real time.
I'm aware of the role of the gas station and unethical resellers. Juul could have done more earlier to ban sales on its website and react quicker to removal the sale of flavors outside of specialty vape stores.
This has devolved into borderline incoherent ranting so please try to have some concision here. I’ve been vaping since cigalikes. My father gave me his when I was a kid as I had been smoking cigarettes themselves since 5th grade. (I know. I know.)
Public opinion did nothing but double down due to concerted efforts that most see as cigarette company propaganda anyway.
Juul had no way of knowing. I know many others now who use blu. Nobody ever mentioned them and those used to be bought in packs by groups of my friends in high school. We then moved on to the ce4 and vaping was basically the way to go from then on unless you were drinking or partying. Now we have cigalike type vapes that actually work well and are just as available as cigarettes, if not less, and yet they were SCAPEGOATED. Juul did nothing but comply, even taking flavored pods out of stores. That’s a big hit on their end that they did not have to do. You still see eon pods and blu and other ecigs.
Point being, vaping has been hated on forever. It started with the big cloud blowing “it’s just vapor I can do this inside whenever I want” kind of person who ruined the image. Once the media made nicotine the devil and not the retailers, we began a new and very distracting discussion that is resulting in extreme measures being taken against all other vapes while Juul did nothing out of the ordinary other than be a properly good device.
If anything, blame fucking memes and retailers. Not Juul. They did MORE than comply. They gave us an ounce of prevention. Now Trump is going to force feed us a literal metric ton of cure just because he’s a fucking moron.
Yeah I started with Cigalikes, the Blu shit back in 2013, moved onto pen/mod shit in 2014.
Logic, Blu, classic Njoy, they never tried to appear as anything except an electronic cigarette. Hence the little light on the end, the shape, packaging
Juul is far easier to conceal and stronger than those early cig-a-likes. It looks like a flash drive, it doesn't light up and its easier to use than any of the first wave reusable devices.
Juul got too greedy and thought they could build up the war chest for enough of a defense, so they let it go. No fucking foresight.
They had presentations in school. My local vape shop and mt baker never presented shit to children.
Fuck Juul and fuck them forever for screwing vapers all over.
In the Philippines, the vaping community/ juice manufacturers are open and even convincing our FDA and Department of Health to regulate vaping products. This is to make vaping a lot more legit and safe but the government is too lazy to deal with it.
glad i've learned to DIY for the past couple years. Yall crazy asses should revolt and smash all flavored liquor bottles that are being sold in the same places where kids freely walk around grocery shopping with their parents.
I don't expect you to read the book below, but PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE with everyone you possibly can. Please and thank you.
As someone who works in the industry what's completely nonsense is that the flavor ban announced today is almost completely because of illigal black market THC cartidges, there have only been between 75 - 80 of the 450+ who claimed to only use nicotine. But to my knowledge not one of those people has been drug tested to see if they are lying. And allot of people have good reason to lie, for instance jobs, family, hell getting your child taken away even though you are a victim. This is going to cost thousands of people their jobs on every single level of this industry. All because these people want to look good with a bipartisan issue on an election year. Please if you care at all about thousands of people's jobs sign this! I agree the industry needs regulations, but this is not how you do it! Allot of small businesses will go under at a staggering speed with no recourse because this happened so suddenly. Please as someone with a wife and kid, as well as many employees and associates in the same situation PLEASE don't let this just be the end of an entire industry overnight. It benefits nobody but Altria and other big tobacco companies. Altria owns 30% of juul plus almost every other gas station vape there is. That accounts for 70% or more of the entire vape industry. Even if they lose 30% - 40% sales because of lack of flavors that's fine because they will bounce back come 2020 when you can petition for your flavors back. That other 30% of the industry that isn't juul or gas station crap will complete be ruined practically overnight. That's all the small business owners, production companies, flavor scientists, sales people we all know those. All of these will just be gone, most of them don't have the money or resources to last till the 2020 review. And even if they could somehow scrape by the couldn't hope to afford what it takes to be approved. The communities that people have built to have a better life after smoking will also disappear. This will do so much more harm than good by also starting a giant black market of homemade liquid that will FOR SURE get people sick for way more money. If you give even half a damn, I can not stress enough how much it would mean to so many people if you please sign and share this before time runs out. I apologise profusely for the bad Grammer and spelling. I never comment, and to be honest I don't fully even understand how reddit really works but this means allot.
This is a really surprising move. If he was going to take action of requiring FDA oversight of this fledgling industry I could understand but Banning vaping while allowing so many other things seems like corruption to me
