I think this podcast has historic value. I would strongly favor Gav's views on governance. Why? I don't have the feeling to make any impact on decisions or be represented by any instance in our space, at all. Visiting Devcon, other conferences or Ethereum Magician meetups to be able to create signals or share opinions is more costly than coin voting. So "rough consensus" is established on reddit or twitter?
I think that governance should include the fact that block producers making decisions, which benefit the users, should be rewarded, but the most important part is still that the decision makers can be anonymous, otherwise you outsource governance back to nation states.
There has been a strong consensus from the start for all the major changes up to and including Serenity. Until then, it needs to be all hands on deck to just get it done. After that, governance will be critical for the long term.
lolwut? Not only did Vlad not have much to do with Plasma (I think Karl Floersch was researching/promoting it), Plasma did deliver a bunch of implementations that work today.
Plasma isn't a thing to be delivered, it's an extremely vague spec that's not really even a spec, but a set of design guidelines for scaling certain use cases on ethereum.
